The importance of Self-Care
I’m a mom to two young kids, so the word “self-care” wasn’t even on my radar for a good 5 years. I know a lot of you can relate. We get married, have kids and we put ourselves on the back burner. I believe it’s a natural mom instinct! “the kids first!!!”…
Who can relate to having your kids dressed in the latest, cutest kids clothes out in stores looking all instagram worthy to go to church on Sunday and rolling in with hair in a messy bun rocking your “good” Target shirt, the one without the odd stain on the boob, barely put together and not feeling your best at all. Lets not even talk about when the last time you worked out was.
Yep. that was me, to a “t” until I annoyed myself enough with all the complaining. I stepped on the scale one day and was like um, woah….time to start taking care of myself for once.
February 3, 2017 I decided to make a change. Typical Kelsey. Can’t even start on a normal day to start. January came and went and I was still being lazy. February 1st came…the 2nd and I was like, dang it. I better do something. So my life-changing day came on February 2rd. Typical.
Truth is, it doesn’t matter if its a Wednesday, Friday, Monday, whatever. Deciding to change and sticking to your changes is all mental. Taking care of yourself is and should be a priority, especially as a caretaker and Mom. Its not an easy job being a stay at home/working momma who cares for their children 24/7 so taking time out and finding time to take care of myself has made me a lot happier and a better wife and mother.
I decided February 3rd I was going to start a journey to transform my body. Here I am 28 pounds lighter and continuing my fitness journey. Ive also decided to clear my life of clutter, minimalize, live healthier and use healthy products to live the best life I can now to set an example for my girls. Setting goals, being disciplined and consistent, eating healthy and taking care of myself physically and spiritually is a perfect living example for my children to see (and trust me it’s not easy) and is a fulfilling lifestyle change…
Check out where I started and the plan I put together to shed 28 pounds!
