On our trip home from South Dakota we stopped in and spent the day at the Omaha Zoo. It was such an amazing experience and if you ever get the chance to go there I highly recommend it! It was a brutally hot day, but lucky for us, much of the zoo is indoors! I didn’t photograph our whole experience there, just a few highlights. I did a lot of video as well, so we could have some home movies from it. My favorite experience were the indoor swamp area (see if you can find the picture) where they featured beavers and alligators that swam beneath you.  The desert dome was incredible and the aquarium didn’t disappoint. Lily was able to interact with a giraffe, and penguin, so that was amazing in and of itself (both animals were interested in her koala bear stuffed animal she had picked out at the gift store). Another terrifying memory was made with some bats in the jungle area. They let fruit bats fly free and it was feeding time and somehow we got stuck in a low cave with bats flying overhead and around us. All my batteries had died and I’m dying because it would have made for a great video of the girls panicking…it was funny. Hope you enjoy!

Lots of times, I enjoy the challenge of taking the nicest shots I can on my iPhone. With the editing apps that are available now, I can get great shots, without the trouble of carrying around my bulky camera. While there’s no comparison to my big one for some shots, sometimes, depending on the trip I can pick and choose what camera I’ll go with. There is convenience to shooting and editing with my iPhone, that sometimes, is good enough for the occasion. Today I played around with both cameras. Here are a few of my iPhone shots from the Zoo.

I also have been trying to be more organized and conscious of our families home videos. This summer my goal is to get the stress of our families memories under control. I’m the one that takes the pictures and videos of our trips and holidays, and I just haven’t figured out a good system for making our yearly photo albums, or keeping our videos organized. So I’m on a mission this summer to get that all caught up. The video from this adventure ended up being over 30 minutes long, so I won’t post it here…I’ve been posting and organizing short family videos to Vimeo, but I think I’m going to switch to youtube only because they don’t have a limit to how many I can post a month! What do you do to keep your videos organized? I’m all ears!!!

Until next time!
