Oh, the terror…

Well, I’m glad to say I finally figured out what the terrible dying screams coming from my backyard were…First let me back track. Months ago while in bed, I heard horrible (and loud) screams or screeches coming from the woods behind our townhouse. I, for sure, knew in my mind it was some sort of animal being eaten alive. There was like this scream-y barking, then rustling, and fighting…ugh, it was awful. I couldn’t stand it any longer and wanted to go investigate…dragging Dana along with me and a pair of crummy flash lights we ran around our backyard peeking over neighbors fences even–but of course it stopped and we found nothing. I was so upset over it.

Fast forward to last night around 1:00. It started again. Listen below.

Turn up your volume. There’s nothing to watch…just audio.

So weird. I don’t know why I didn’t look it up last time it happened. I guess I was just convinced the worst thinking something was dying…Anyway, I found the answer almost immediately after I typed into google “wild animal screeches nighttime”. The two top suggestions were a screech owl and a fox. Youtube popped up this video and it’s a dead on match.

Now, I can relax next time it happens and not feel like something is dying outside my window. Pretty cool…who knew though?! Crazy.
